Dambulla
The historic site of Dambulla is located north east of Colombo, and is a part of the famous Cultural Triangle of Sri Lanka, encompassing Sigiriya – Polonnaruwa – Dambulla caves.
Dambulla caves date back to the 01st century and provide an illuminating insight into Buddhism. These are the best preserved cave temples in Sri Lanka and one of the finest in Asia. The caves house more than 150 statues of Lord Buddha and intricate paintings depicting Buddha and his life.
